Natural Building/Green Building:  Techniques and Resources
In an effort for zero impact on our earth, Green Scene Houston has researched natural building.  This involves using the earth as your building materials, integrating age old techniques that really work.  As a result, your home feels better, is healthier and makes little or no contribution to the pollution of our earth.  See below for interesting links, photos and ideas.  Let us know what you think.

Dan Phillips, in Huntsville TX, builds homes using discarded materials that would otherwise go into a landfill.  His method is unique and he's been a media darling lately.  Oprah and CNN have also discovered him on shows that air in November 2009.  Living Paradigm, a Houston non-profit group, is using his technique to keep building materials out of the Houston landfills.  Here is a video of a recent tour of Dan's homes.

Straw Bale Walls

Straw bale provides incredible insulating and fire resistant properties.  The materials are cheaper and can be installed by the whole family.  To see a recent straw bale wall raising near Austin, click here.
